Johannesburg played host to the 2025 Africa Supply Chain Excellence Awards (ASCEA) earlier this month, a night that once again highlighted the best in innovation, precision and service excellence across the African supply chain sector. Among the standout winners was DSV, walking away with two awards that speak directly to the company’s ability to deliver under pressure and to push the sustainability envelope.
The annual ASCEA event is a non-profit initiative that honours organisations making meaningful contributions to the advancement of supply chain management across Africa. Significantly, proceeds are channelled into bursaries for those studying in this vital field. It is recognition with purpose, giving back to the very sector it celebrates.
Precision in Mozambique
DSV South Africa clinched the award for Outstanding Achievement for Excellence in Unique Supply Chain Projects. The accolade was earned for a complex Mozambique operation that saw the safe movement of three 80-ton high-pressure vessels from the Port of Maputo to Temane, more than 800km inland.
The four-day journey demanded absolute precision and safety while navigating Africa’s challenging terrain. It was a textbook display of African logistics expertise, strategic foresight and operational discipline.
Driving environmental innovation
The second accolade recognised the partnership between DSV Road and Everlectric, alongside a leading South African retailer, for Excellence in Environmental Innovation in Transport. The project integrates electric vehicles into distribution operations, tackling both sustainability and cost-effectiveness head-on.
Since the launch of the EV initiative in 2022, the collaboration has cut carbon emissions by approximately 826 000kg. For an industry still dominated by diesel, that reduction is more than symbolic – it sets a benchmark for what is possible when logistics players align with sustainability goals and put them into practice.
Team effort recognised
The Awards night was a chance for supply chain professionals, customers and partners to share stories of resilience and ingenuity. For DSV, the two awards are not only trophies on the shelf but proof of a commitment to excellence that stretches from precision project logistics in Mozambique to greener distribution fleets across South Africa.
