Hino Kuilsrivier hits DOTY pinnacle

Truck OEM dealer awards don’t just celebrate high performance – they energise staff, boost customer trust and reinforce a dealership’s commitment to excellence. Hino Kuilsrivier has delivered on all three fronts by claiming the coveted 2024 Hino Dealer of the Year title for the first time, cementing its standing as a national benchmark within the brand’s South African network.

“This achievement symbolises years of dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence. It’s a defining moment for our team,” says Ryno Olivier, dealer principal at Hino Kuilsrivier.

The Hino South Africa Dealer of the Year award is the highest honour in the network, with over two decades of prestige attached. It reflects top performance across a comprehensive scorecard, which includes monthly evaluations in customer satisfaction, vehicle and parts sales, service delivery, financial health and environmental compliance. Importantly, the award also weighs the dealership’s alignment with Hino’s core values: integrity, contribution and empathy.

The awards are structured hierarchically – from operational benchmarks up through the Vice President and President awards – culminating in the single annual Dealer of the Year accolade. In 2024, Hino Kuilsrivier stood tallest among its peers.

“Our approach at Hino Kuilsrivier has never been about chasing awards,” Olivier explains. “It’s always been about consistently refining our operations across all departments – sales, service and parts – while maintaining our core focus of delivering unparalleled customer satisfaction through outstanding service levels. This victory is the culmination of that unwavering commitment.”

Behind the dealership’s sustained performance lies a culture shaped by transformation and long-term investment. In 2017, Hino Kuilsrivier underwent a major upgrade aligned with the brand’s Total Support strategy, with more than R23-million channeled into facility enhancements. These included the addition of nine modern work bays for diagnostics, engine repairs and brake testing, reinforcing the dealership’s role as a key commercial transport hub in the region.

Building a true sense of community

Efficiency remains at the core of operations. Night servicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays extends customer convenience, enabling a daily average throughput of 25 vehicles. A mobile service fleet reaches as far as Clanwilliam and Bredasdorp, while off-site fleet maintenance starts as early as 06H00. A 24-hour standby service further supports round-the-clock uptime for customers.

Under Olivier’s leadership – backed by his 22 years at the dealership – the 40-strong team is driven by loyalty and professionalism. On-going training ensures consistent service quality, while community support initiatives, including sponsorships of local schools and care homes, reinforce the dealership’s strong local ties.

“I’m immensely proud of our committed team and our community engagement,” Olivier concludes. “Achieving – and now defending – the Hino Dealer of the Year trophy reflects our relentless pursuit of excellence. This recognition not only celebrates the dealership’s outstanding achievement but also underscores its unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction, operational excellence and community involvement.”
