“Various parts of Gauteng were on Monday left devastated following severe thunderstorms that hit the province in the afternoon.
The South African Weather Service had earlier warned Johannesburg residents to prepare for possible severe thunderstorms.
“Residents must prepare themselves for thunderstorms which can be severe, we will issue warnings which they can find on social media,” forecaster Madimetsha Thema from the SA weather services said.
Following this images and videos emerged online, showing roofs blown off and fallen trees in numerous areas around the province due to heavy rainfall and strong winds.”
