‘Against All Odds’. This was the theme for the annual Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA) and Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS) Dealer of the Year (DOTY) 2021 awards held earlier this month as a face-to-face ceremony for the first time since 2019.
And what an apt theme it was for the awards were all about rewarding and recognizing dealers and general distributors that demonstrated excellence, strong resolve and exemplary dedication in an ever-tougher environment – and 2021 was certainly a tough environment for commercial vehicle dealers.
As Michael Dietz, President and CEO of Daimler Truck Southern Africa said: “I take my hat off to all the winning dealers and general distributors. Last year was certainly not a walk in the park and it takes an unwavering commitment to excellence and resilience to be recognised among the very best in our retail network.
“Collectively our dealers and general distributors have pivoted DTSA to new heights and continued to deliver the highest standards of service and sales against all odds. I would like to extend the depth of my gratitude to their willingness to go the extra mile in moving DTSA forward and wish them all the best as they continue to bask in the glory of their highest earned and well-deserved accolades”.
Mike Honiball, the man with the money as CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services was also there to extend his congratulations to all the winning dealers and general distributors. “These awards highlight the strength of our extensive network and the commitment of our dealer Finance and Insurance teams. I firmly believe that 2022 is set to be another exciting year and look forward to further opportunities of driving sales and to be closer than ever to our valued customers,” he said.
Top of the pops was Orbit Commercial Vehicles Cape Town which scooped the highly sought-after Daimler Truck Southern Africa overall Dealer of the Year award 2021. This is the first time this dealer was won the award is a huge achievement for Orbit Commercial Vehicles Cape Town and bears testimony to its exceptional dealer standards and overall customer satisfaction.
A total of 29 awards in six categories were awarded this year and the results took into account performance across the full spectrum including: Sales, parts, customer service, financial services and used vehicles. The winners in other categories were:
