The new fourth generation PBS timber vehicles launched by Timber 24 have a variety of modifications which have resulted in making the combination as short as possible without sacrificing payload or safety.

Timber24, a leading timber transporter, has introduced its new fourth generation PBS timber vehicles – marking a first for the local industry.

The unique Australian Simulation vehicles leverage cutting edge design and pioneering innovation to enable a 10% to 15% cost saving in the delivery cost to customers. By equipping PBS vehicles to carry higher payloads per trip, for example, fewer trips are needed thereby reducing road risk and exposure by up to 25%.

Blake Ferguson, MD of Timber24: “This marks the first PBS combination of this design and brings with it new possibilities and ample benefits.”

“It marks the first PBS combination of this design and brings with it new possibilities and ample benefits,” says Blake Ferguson, MD of Timber24.

The game changing innovations are improvements on the old PBS design. For example, adjusting the underslung hitch position; changing the A-frame design and shortening the trailer length. These modifications all focus on making the combination as short as possible without sacrificing payload or safety.

“All of these changes equate to a significant annual saving, the benefits of which would be shared by the customer and the haulier,” says Ferguson

In addition, with its more tractable design, the PBS vehicles can access tighter routes due to its improved tracking, with less swept width required. This allows for more flexibility on the routes it is allowed to travel on, with fewer limitations placed on it by the DOT due to its design and shorter length.

“Timber24 is pioneering new and more efficient ways of serving clients and breaking the industry boundaries,” says Ferguson.

Timber 24 is part of Barloworld Transport which was formed in 2013 through the merger of Barloworld Logistics’ Dedicated Transport Services division (DTS) with the Manline group of companies.
