Charel Schickerling will draw on his local experience to drive forward PVT Africa’s business development and expansion.

The German-headquartered PTV Group has announced the expansion of its software business on the African continent with its own office situated in Johannesburg. The signs for this were set in 2016 with the successful takeover of Distribution Planning Software International Ltd (DPS). In the future, the newly created PTV Africa branch office should boost the software business for planning and optimization of traffic and logistics with local expertise.

The PTV Group improves mobility and transport by using world-class software, data and scientific know-how gained from four decades of experience in planning and optimising the movement of people and goods. Recognised as a global market player with German technology, the company helps cities, companies and people save time and money, enhance road safety and minimise the impact on the environment.

In the logistics field, PTV’s portfolio ranges from software for scheduling transport routes and trips to distribution planning and fleet management, including truck navigation and parking. A special online service provides real-time transparency during the transport process and across the entire supply chain.

“Africa is an extremely interesting market. We have long been active in this region and now, with our own branch office and locally experienced personnel, we can support our customers more effectively than from our headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany. At the same time, we will further extend the geographic market coverage for our entire product range” says Vincent Kobesen, CEO of the PTV Group, adding that with its own local office in Johannesburg, the company can now lay the last cornerstone for a global presence on all continents.

In the new PTV Africa branch office, the experienced managing director of DPS South Africa, Charel Schickerling, will advance and be responsible for PTV Africa’s business development. This affects not just the transport logistics sector but also the traffic planning sector.

Schickerling has roots in South Africa and has great expertise in the transport and logistics industries. For him, process optimisation has always been a main objective.

“Over the last number of years, we have been able to establish a stable business environment with the help of numerous renowned customers. Dealing with logistics and traffic products opens up a variety of options and opportunities. Thus we are convinced that we will be able to establish strong and successful business relationships which will result in measurable added value for market participants,” he says.

Good luck and FleetWatch welcomes PTV to our shores.
