How good is this? It’s not every day one can claim to have achieved 1-million kilometres on their vehicle odometer but businessman David Ngubo is one who can proudly make this claim.
Over the course of 10 years, Ngubo has successfully run his delivery business in the east of Johannesburg driving his Hyundai H-100 – which he bought new back in 2010 – over 500km nearly every day. With the truck at the core of his business, he realised from the start that sticking to the basics and maintaining his vehicle by adhering to all scheduled services would be the key to its long life. He also insisted on any parts being replaced with Hyundai genuine parts.
“I compare taking care of my H-100 to having a wife. If you look after her, she will certainly look after you,” says Ngubo.
Hyundai South Africa was indeed proud to find this gem. As a brand that believes in the support of community efforts and initiatives, its aim is to continue to build small, medium, and micro enterprises where possible and in this regard, they had a big surprise for Ngubo.
Thinking perhaps that he had been invited to Hyundai South Africa’s head-office to be congratulated on his 1-million milestone with a bottle of champagne, Ngubo got a huge surprise when he was presented with a brand new Hyundai H-100 by CEO, Niall Lynch, with the intention to allow him to continue building his business and his community. The accompanying video shows his absolute delight when the new H-100 was driven into the parking lot and he was told it was his.
Well done Hyundai but one question; Ngubo says he looks after his Hyundai like he looks after his wife. So, if I buy an H-100 and get it up to 1-million kays, will you give me a new wife? Just asking.
Congratulations to David Ngubo on this great achievement and hats off to Hyundai South Africa on this great gesture. It’s all the right stuff.
