With the number of truck blockades experienced around the Ermelo area over the past few weeks, one would assume there is no ways any good news could come out of this protest-battered town. However, De Wit Motors, Ermelo shattered this perception when it walked away with three of the top awards at the recent Daimler Trucks & Buses Southern Africa Dealer of the Year event for 2018.

The awards bestowed on this innovative dealership were: Chairman’s Award – Best Daimler Trucks & Buses Dealer; Chairman’s Award – Best MB Vans Dealer; and the Chairman’s Award as overall winner of Dealer of the Year. This served to cement their place as one of the most innovative dealers in the Daimler footprint.

Daimler Trucks & Buses Southern Africa comprises Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Freightliner, FUSO Trucks and Buses, Mercedes-Benz Bus & Coach and Western Star, as well as Mercedes-Benz Vans and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services (MBFS), both subsidiaries of Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA)

Commenting on the overall performance of its dealerships during 2018, Jasper Hafkamp, Chief Executive Officer of Daimler Trucks & Buses Southern Africa, said last year proved to be a tough one for the commercial vehicles industry, “but our dealers proved their mettle and delivered the type of excellent results we are recognising them for.”

He added that the dealer partners’ performance is measured for the awards in terms of deliverables which include customer satisfaction, customer relationship management, new vehicle sales, after-sales and target performance.

Nadia Trimmel, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa, when handing out the Chairman’s Award for Best Mercedes-Benz Vans Dealer said: “I’m delighted to present this award to all of our De Wit Motors colleagues as this is a team effort. From the sales staff to the workshop and the administration team, they did extremely well last year and I am confident they will continue to delight their customers and grow the family brand that they have worked so hard to build.”
