Letters to the Editor

From: Dave Thompson
General Manager
CTS East (Pty) Ltd

The destruction of public and private property during so called “protests” is unacceptable and indeed, the culture of impunity that follows is equally unacceptable.

The perpetrators, the instigators and those who encourage such wonton destruction -including the Union Bosses who condone such activity – should be criminally prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It is high time that the law prevails and such lawlessness is stamped out with highly punitive measures.

This behaviour has grown out of the culture of impunity and the fault, therefore, lies squarely at the feet of those who advocate leniency for such activity.

Until the authorities harshly enforce the law for such activities, the country’s economy and the financial well-being of the private sector and their insurers will continue to be adversely affected.
