The culmination of almost two years of work has seen the official opening of the Afrit Group’s new 80 000m2 truck and trailer facility located near OR Tambo International Airport.
The new hub at 78 Pomona Road sees five synergistic businesses that form part of the group’s complete client solution situated in one space. These businesses are:
- AFRIT (new trailer sales);
- ATLAS Truck Centre (trade-ins/purchases of used trucks and trailers);
- Phuma Rentals (short, medium and long term trailer rentals);
- Spares & Parts store (a new hub for the group’s spares distribution); and
- Refurbishment and Repair centre.
The AFRIT Group has been serving the transport industry for over forty years and currently has around a 30 percent share of its market in South Africa. Annually the group’s companies manufacture about 4 000 new trailers, sell approximately 1 200 used trailers and 400 used trucks.
“We developed this facility with customer convenience in mind,” says Andre van de Wetering, chief executive officer of the AFRIT Group. “It is easier for clients to visit just one place to conduct all their business with regard to new trailers, trade-ins, second-hand, rentals, spares, after-sales support and so forth – 78 Pomona offers them just that.”
The launch event was a celebration of a journey that began about eighteen months ago when the ATLAS Truck Centre was the first company to relocate after it had outgrown its 20 000m2 facility in Boksburg. Since then, the hub has kept growing to what it is today, and is enjoying the support of existing as well as walk-in clients.
“Many of our clients in the sector have supported us for decades and this new infrastructure is testament to the fact that not only are we committed to re-investing back into the industry but also that we constantly strive to exceed our clients’ expectations,” says Van de Wetering.
Good move Afrit and FleetWatch wishes you lots of success with these new premises.
