Wayne de Nobrega, CEO at Tracker: “It’s been an amazing year for us so far and despite the tough economic environment, we’ve continued to show significant growth in our subscriber base, revenue and profit.”

How’s this for an impressive ‘whoop-whoop’ achievement? Tracker South Africa has recorded a first for the tracking and telematics industry in South Africa by reaching an incredible one million active subscriptions.

Servicing an entirely South African base, Tracker is the market leader in vehicle tracking and telematics in South Africa with a market share of 40%. According to the company, Tracker is nearly twice the size of its closest competitor and third largest in the world.

Wayne de Nobrega, CEO at Tracker says: “It’s been an amazing year for us so far and despite the tough economic environment, we’ve continued to show significant growth in our subscriber base, revenue and profit. We attribute this to our remarkable and talented staff and our strong relationships with the insurance, dealer and original equipment manufacturer channels.”

He adds that Tracker is strategically positioned to accelerate its local growth through new product and service offerings and will focus on global expansion going into 2017.

This latest milestone follows another one reached in January this year when Tracker celebrated an impressive 75 000 vehicle recoveries since the inception of the business in 1996. Commenting on that achievement at the time, De Nobrega said: “It is a significant achievement for us to be the first company in our industry to reach this target and I am really proud of the great work Tracker does to ensure we continue to etch highlights such as this into our history books.”

Most people see Tracker as a Stolen Vehicle Recovery (SVR) company and while that remains the core of the business, the company has evolved significantly since its birth in 1996. The company also offers a host of products and solutions from usage-based insurance and fleet management solutions to mobile technology applications. Collecting, processing and interpreting data is part of its DNA.

“We receive over 35 million data messages daily and turn them into meaningful bits of information which assist our partners to improve and streamline their businesses,” says De Nobrega.

FleetWatch extends its heartiest congratulations to Tracker on reaching the one million milestone. We salute you!
