Anton Niemann, general manager sales: Commercial Lubricants at Shell, says the new Rimula R6 LM offers up to 53% better protection against engine wear and deposits, especially cam wear, and up to 45% lower oil consumption.

This sounds too good to be true. Chuck some oil into your truck and you get all weather protection, long oil life, extended oil drain intervals as well as reduced maintenance and fuel costs – all of which help to lower the Total Cost of Ownership.

Unrealistic? Not so according to Shell which has introduced its new Shell Rimula R6 LM 10W-40 fully synthetic heavy duty diesel engine oil (HDDEO) onto the market.

The new HDDEO now features Shell’s Dynamic Protection Plus Technology. It combines Shell’s proprietary PurePlus Technology – a process that converts natural gas into crystal-clear base oil with Adaptive Additive Technology that provides outstanding protection for modern heavy-duty diesel engines.

Anton Niemann, general manager sales: Commercial Lubricants at Shell, explains: “The new enhanced Rimula portfolio reflects our investment in research and development, proving our commitment to delivering real benefits to our customers. This latest innovation enables the new Rimula R6 LM to offer up to 53% better protection against engine wear and deposits, especially cam wear and up to 45% lower oil consumption.”

The new packaging of Shell Rimula enables customers to quickly navigate key information such as the Shell pecten, the brand name and the oil viscosity.

The oil’s upgraded CJ-4 specification now exceeds ACEA, MAN and Mercedes-Benz specifications for engine wear and cleanliness to ensure extended oil drain intervals and lower emissions. Its low SAPs formulation also significantly reduces downtime from clogging of diesel particulate filters by ash.

The Shell Rimula packaging label design has also undergone a significant upgrade across the range to give customers the ability to access key information quickly. The new label design aims to exploit the space on the packaging to make it easier for customers to quickly navigate key information such as the Shell pecten, the brand name and the oil viscosity.

Shell Rimula is one of the solutions presented by Shell that gained the company its foothold as a global leader in power and energy that pioneers innovative lubricant technology, smarter mobility and a sustainable energy future.

And you thought it was just a glug of sticky gunk you were throwing into your truck’s engine. Not so. This is top notch stuff that holds numerous benefits for fleet owners.
