Imperial has bagged a R123-million contract for transport, warehousing and logistics for the PG Group.
“Imperial’s experience and expertise in transporting and handling glass, coupled with the organisation’s ability to deliver tailor-made logistics solutions, led to this contract award,” notes Chief Business Development Officer, Cobus Rossouw.
Imperial’s partnership with the PG Group goes back more than 10 years says Rossouw and during this time, the company has helped to drive their competitiveness by constantly innovating and improving upon efficient and cost effective solutions. Imperial’s new contract includes the establishment of a state-of-the-art logistics command centre that will further optimise PG’s supply chain performance and reduce overall supply chain costs. “This centre will also enable us to measure and manage glass supply and demand challenges,” Rossouw states.
Reflecting Imperial’s commitment to customising its services in order to increase its clients’ competitiveness, the group is investing in new vehicles for PG, as well as new infrastructure to accommodate the logistics command centre’s staff complement. In addition, current trailer fleets are being modified for glass distribution.
