Congratulations to Connie Mdladla, managing director of Khaas Logistics, for winning the Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain category in the fourth annual Standard Bank Rising Star Awards.
The Standard Bank Rising Star Awards programme is a national platform that awards individual performance in the business arena. It was established for the purposes of recognising, celebrating and connecting young talented people who have a capacity for achievement and success and who contribute in an inspirational manner to the future of the nation. FleetWatch loves that last bit – “who contribute in an inspirational manner to the future of the nation”. Yeah!
This year’s awards had a record of close to 400 entries for the 12 categories. Sixty participants emerged from a rigorous three-phase judging process to be named as finalists and represent the top echelons of South African workplace talent. Under the Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain category, the group of finalists were:

- Connie Mdladla – Khaas Logistics (Winner)
- Daniel Van Der Merwe – DHL Express
- Darrin Hedley – G4S
- Kevin Stout – Unitrans

Standard Bank’s Global Head of Resourcing, Amelia Muller, says the Rising Star Programme was established for the purposes of recognising, celebrating and connecting young talented people who have a capacity for achievement and success and who contribute in an inspirational manner to the future of the nation.

This platform allows for our young stars to shine and be recognised, reflecting the legacy of skills development and leadership progress that represents the core of Standard Bank’s ambitions in Africa,” says Muller.
The innovative Rising Star Programme has also established a living community of young African business talent that is developed, mentored and provided with platforms for development and communication through the Rising Star Network.
All Rising Star finalists, from both South Africa and Kenya, are invited to complimentary business seminars and learning events as well as receive 12 months complimentary access to over 600 online learning courses.
