To all you MotoGP bike enthusiasts who watch those crazy guys with more guts than brains screaming round the race tracks of the world on two wheels, please say ‘˜thank you’ to the trucking industry because those guys would not be on the track if it were not for the back up support of trucks.
The most recent support came in the form of 20 new Iveco Stralis Hi-Way trucks which were donated to both the competing Yamaha Factory Racing Team, whose members include current world title champion Jorge Lorenzo as well as Valentino Rossi, a past four-time title champion – and to Dorna Sports, the championship’s Spanish organiser.The delivery ceremony took place after the qualifying trials at the Jerez de La Frontera circuit in Spain. The new Stralis Hi-Way is Iveco’s flagship heavy road vehicle and was recognised as the International Truck of the Year 2013.
Iveco supplied four Daily vehicles and 13 new Stralis Hi-Way trucks to Dorna Sports in addition to seven new Stralis Hi-Way trucks and a Daily van to Yamaha. The Iveco vehicles will be used throughout the world championship to transport equipment, materials, offices and mobile workshops.
The world championship kicked off on April 7th with an evening race in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and will conclude this November in Valencia, Spain. A total of 18 races will be battled out across 13 countries on four continents.
What many people don’t realise is that without trucks, none of these races would take place. Up trucks!!!!
