Tops in responsible care

Congratulations to Manline Energy on winning the inaugural Responsible Care Haulier Award introduced this year by the Chemical and Allied Industries’ Association.

The award recognises the best performing haulier signatory that transports Dangerous Goods on behalf of the chemical sector. Manline Energy was selected from 23 hauliers that submitted Quantitative Indicators of Performance (QIPs).

This year’s winner of the main Responsible Care Award was Sasol Solvents in Secunda which produces a range of solvents with a total production capacity of 1.1 million tonnes and has a complement of 510 employees

Responsible Care is a global initiative by the chemical industry that assists members to improve their safety, health and environmental (SHE) performance by continuously raising standards in management and operations. CAIA members sign a voluntary pledge, committing themselves to the guiding principles of Responsible Care and undergo regular assessment and third-party audits to ensure compliance.

The Responsible Care Awards recognise and encourage member companies in the chemical industry that have made the most significant improvements in their safety, health and environmental (SHE) performance.

Three companies were shortlisted for the Responsible Care award and two companies for the Haulier Award on the basis of the most significant improvement as well as a consistent and excellent SHE performance.

Protea Chemicals Inland, Anchor Pail and Drum Reconditioners and Reef Tankers were runners-up for the awards. Judges visited the five companies to assess first-hand how each company shaped up to their QIP performance and Responsible Care in general.

Well done Manline Energy.
