Committing to the future

2010-10-01 19:33
Committing the actions of today to the future of tomorrow was Gideon de Swardt of Scania southern Africa seen here surrounded by trusting and grateful kids. As you can gauge from the caps, Avis was also a big supporter of the event.

FleetWatch lifts its hat to Scania southern Africa and all the other companies which joined Dr. Lawrence Barrit at his Pick n Pay supported Stay Alert Stay Alive function at the Wanderers recently where they got the message of a green future across to school kids.

FleetWatch has attended a number of the Stay Alert Stay Alive functions in the past but this is the first one which had a green message as its central theme , and the kids responded well to it. As Gideon de Swardt, marketing manager for Scania said in addressing the kids: “You children are the future and we have to ensure that you kids will have food to eat, clean water to drink, and clean air to breathe.’

Dr. Lawrence Barrit, the man behind Stay Alert Stay Alive , an avid campaigner for road safety now also going green.

Getting that message across to the kids from the corporates is what is was all about , and FleetWatch commends all those companies who took part on their sterling commitment and effort. It was one of those really warm occasions and it was great seeing the trucking industry involved via Scania.
