We’ve all heard how the Covid-19 pandemic forced many companies to find ways of reinventing their businesses. Well, here’s a good example of two companies which linked hands prior to Covid and continue to benefit going forward.

It resides in a partnership venture which has proved highly successful not only in adding value to the partners but also adding extra value to customers. It is Engen’s partnership with global transport and logistics firm, DSV via the DSV lockers and associated courier services situated at 257 Engen retail services stations across South Africa.

The DSV Locker meets first and final mile needs in an industry fuelled by the growth of direct to consumer, staff, or supplier requirements. Delivery options include physical address to-locker, and locker-to-physical address delivery services, anywhere in South Africa. And now there is a new service offering, namely, Locker-to-Locker which is currently being piloted at 10 Engen sites. This enables customers to send a parcel from one locker to another.

DSV lockers allow for a 24/7 cost-effective, convenient, and safe way to send and receive parcels with a courier and packaging solution appealing to a wide range of customers, including small home businesses, students, residents, banks, and retailers.

“Engen continuously looks for ways to improve our customer experience through innovation and pioneering convenience services across our over 1 000 service stations network, with our exclusive partnership with DSV being one such service,” says Enoch Hermanus, Engen’s acting General Manager: Retail.

FleetWatch would love to hear of other examples of businesses which have found ways of reinventing their products or services – particularly as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. We hear so much bad news. It would be great to feature the good news as well. Send us an email to fleetwatch@pixie.co.za with your story.
