Uggh!

C’mon Grindrod Intermodal. Get real for goodness sake – or at least live up to your Ethics Code as spelt out on your web site. Grindrod Intermodal states that it provides a complete service in the movement of containerised cargo,

Shagged trucks seize the day

2011-08-01 19:44

It was only a few weeks before the FleetWatch Call to Action day held in Shongweni that the Brake & Tyre Watch team hit the Langlaagte Test centre with about 60 or so cops to test the roadworthiness of trucks

Not so ‘Proudly Bidvest’

2011-08-01 19:44
Given that all signs pointed towards a heavy overload, it was taken out of the test line to be weighed. It was 9 tons overloaded.

If I was Brian Joffe, CEO of the Bidvest Group Limited, I wouldn’t be too ‘˜Proudly Bidvest’ for running the rig pictured here on public roads. Operating under the Bidfreight Intermodal company name, FleetWatch went onto Bidfreight Intermodal’s website and

Fifth wheel neglect

2011-08-01 19:44
Note the loose pedestal mounting bolt. Every time the combination negotiates a corner, excessive stresses are exerted on the remaining mounting bolts, especially on the other bolt on the same side. The enthusiasm of the Bloemfontein traffic officials was stunning. Here they cheer the success of the training programme with the FleetWatch Brake & Tyre Watch team. It truly is a team effort.

Our last Brake & Tyre Watch project saw our team return to Bloemfontein to train the cops from the Free State as well as Northern Cape. The good news is that after the two day exercise , the first day

Facts point to serious crisis

Failed: Another one leaves the test pit to sit out the night in the holding yard.

There’s something going horribly wrong in the trucking industry. Out of 24 trucks tested at the Midway test centre alongside the N3 during our last Brake & Tyre Watch exercise , conducted during the night – no less than 20

Road Transport: SA’s strategic imperative

2011-02-12 15:27
An OECD study showed that South Africa far outstrips other countries in the number of heavy vehicle accidents recorded.

Trucks drive the South African economy and if our politicians really have the interests of South Africa at heart, then it is well over-due that road transport be placed as a leading item on their agendas. That’s the strong message
